Daytime Television Actress Will Star in New Ads

FORT WASHINGTON, Pa., January 15, 2015 – Former daytime television star Genie Francis is smiling from ear-to-ear with a new air of self-confidence. The beloved soap opera actress revealed that she has lost 30 pounds on Nutrisystem (NASDAQ: NTRI) according to the Company’s official Facebook page, where thousands have already made the #pledgetolose. Through social networking channels, this morning, a leading provider of weight management products and services shared that Francis feels better and more confident than ever and is slated to appear in Nutrisystem commercials beginning in mid-February in hope of inspiring others to overcome their own weight loss struggles and emerge happier, healthier and more confident just as she did.

Like many women, when Francis experienced the loss of her sister in 2013, she felt both the emotional and physical effects, turning to food for comfort. Coupled with normal course of life events as her oldest made his way to college, she stepped out of the spotlight for a bit. She knew she needed to lose weight and turned to Nutrisystem.

“I’ve always been an emotional eater. I use food to comfort myself. It’s been an ongoing problem in my life,” said Francis. “But the biggest part of the problem was that before, in order to lose weight, I would do extreme diets and starve. The good thing about Nutrisystem is that I’m more at peace with food.”

She added, “I know how to eat the right amount of breakfast, lunch and dinner. I avoid triggers and stay away from button foods – the ones that make you want to eat more. The fact that I get to eat the foods I love on Nutrisystem, satisfies my cravings and I am less vulnerable to those button foods.”

Once the first 10 pounds came off, Francis began to realize how much better she felt. When she reached 20 pounds lost, her friends and family began to notice the changes she was making. She also began to walk more and become more active.

“It’s amazing what losing weight can do for you,” says Francis. “I am feeling more like my old self. I have more confidence, don’t dread getting dressed and have much more energy!”

After 25 pounds lost, Francis began to try on new clothes and even went shopping in her own closest.

“I put on a pair of jeans I haven’t worn in years,” adds Francis. “And they fit! I couldn’t believe it. At that moment, I could see Nutrisystem paying off.”

Now, having lost 30 pounds, Francis is proud of her progress and motivated to keep going on her weight loss journey. She is inviting others to join her on her weight loss journey and #pledgetolose on Nutrisystem’s Facebook page.

Francis kick started her weight loss using Nutrisystem Fast 5, a one-week jumpstart to the Nutrisystem My Way program that guarantees a five-pound weight loss in the first week of dieting.

Francis joins a cast of several other aspirational, yet highly relatable brand ambassadors who have successfully lost weight with Nutrisystem including singer and actress, Marie Osmond, who lost 50 pounds; Hall of Fame quarterback, Dan Marino, who lost 22 pounds; actress and director, Melissa Joan Hart, who lost 40 pounds; actress and entrepreneur, Soleil Moon Frye, who lost 23 pounds; and reality star, Darrell Sheets who lost 40 pounds.
